Ben’s approach

Central to Ben’s philosophy is the inevitability of complexity in education and the realty that teachers and leaders should embrace it, rather than run from it! Embracing and managing complexity is central to Ben’s work on nurturing professional judgement in teachers and leaders.

Ben has been a teacher educator in higher education since 2009 and before that was a teacher and a senior leader in both suburban and inner-city schools for 11 years. His research, publication and public speaking reflect his interest in educational complexity, leadership and teacher professional development at the University of ther West of Enhland, Bristol, UK. Ben is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches a variety of undergraduate, masters and doctoral programmes focussing on teaching and educational leadership.
